Dorian Lynde is a Canadian artist who lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Her work is most often centered around investigations into the systems of power and inequity concealed within the cultural signifiers of femininity. Much of Dorian's work involves hand painting production cels, a process of painting vinyl paint onto celluloid sheets that are most often used in animation. It is a historically gendered practice, with roots in Walt Disney Studio's policy to bar women from contributing creatively to their productions, instead hiring them for the ink and paint department.
