Maggee Day
painting, abstraction, everyday, walking, perception

MFA , Emily Carr University of Art + Design

Maggee Day’s work challenges traditional conventions of landscape painting by exploring new ways to utilize tools in our contemporary painting world. She combines traditional painting techniques, rendering approaches from the digital realm, and loose vandalizing brushstrokes to create complex paintings that oscillate between illusionism and abstraction. Day lives and Works in Vancouver.

“Care for me is setting goals for myself and creating a sense of structure within this chaos. I do many activities such as creating lists every morning, routines of exercise, and creating daily studies from watercolours or oil paints. This  act of staying busy and allowing myself the time to explore without criticism or expectation has helped me to become more mindful and caring towards myself.”
